Fortunetellers Know Best

No showdown highschool au type deal. Jack and Rai are friends and have been for a long time. Jack is KINDA crushing on Rai but Rai’s always such a ladies man he never even imagined anything would come of it, so shoves the feeling waaay deep down.

The local fair is in town for this weekend only! Raimundo and his soccer bros invite Jack to come with them. (Rai’s MVP of the team and pretty popular, Jack’s just sorta quiet dweeb people don’t pay much attention to) So while at the fair, Jack is just sorta tagging along feeling kind of third wheel because these are all Rai’s friends not really people he knows/cares to interact with. They end up passing by a fortuneteller’s tent, Jack pauses for some reason the sign really caught his attention and he suggests going in but the rest of the group had kept walking and already left him behind. Sad and lonely but bottling it up best he can as always, Jack decides why not? and goes in. The fortuneteller, a mystic named Wuya, kinda creeps him out because she seems to know so much. His analytical mind tells him there’s no way it’s more than a scam but his heart wishes it weren’t and he takes a seat and lets her read his fortune.

“Crowley! You’re a snake!” Aziraphale had called out in near delight. “I didn’t know you could still do that? I’ve not seen you like this since the Garden.”

Unbeknownst to Aziraphale, after the events of the Garden, Crowley had been cursed, or rather, commanded to never take a fully serpent form again. Oddly enough, he had missed it. While looking human was great, movement was so much easier in his intended body.

Still, it was a shock to be this way again and he had the split second fear that he would be trapped in this form unable to return to the one he’d grown accustomed to. His worries couldn’t hold up to the unexpected petting from angelic fingers.

“You know, I did always have a soft spot for this form of yours. You’re beautiful, Crowley.”

And Crowley was so glad that snakes couldn’t blush.

This lil exchange popped into my head for a Post Armageddon’t “what if making Heaven and Hell think they were more than a demon and an angel had additional consequences?” AU I’m working on, and I thought I’d share it.
